Getting Started with Goal Digger

With GoldDigger, you can quickly highlight games directly from YouTube or, coming soon, you’ll be able to upload your own games. First, click on the left-hand bar under GoldDigger. Note that GoldDigger is built for full soccer games, not for 5-10 minute highlight videos. You’ll need to set up your soccer game as you proceed through the process.

To begin, enter your YouTube URL in the provided box and click to proceed to the next page. On this next page, you’ll set up your game. You will see that some details, such as team names, might be pre-populated by the AI. You can adjust these if they are incorrect. For instance, the AI might label the teams as Dark Team Arizona and Light Team Discollege. You can switch these if they are backward by clicking the little arrows.

Next, you’ll need to select whether it’s a men’s or women’s game. For this demonstration, we’ll choose a men’s game. Then, determine which team is starting on the left side of the field to help the algorithm. Here, we’ll select the Light Team for the left side. Move the slider to find the beginning of your game and set the game start point.

After setting the start, find and set the end of the first half. Remember, it doesn’t need to be exact but close enough to avoid including non-game footage in the analytics. Next, find the beginning of the second half and set it, followed by finding and setting the end of the game. If the game goes into overtime or penalty kicks (PKs), just find the end point of the game footage.

Once done, if the game is at the college level, be sure to set it accordingly. Then, save and continue. The application will configure the game and start finding highlights. Note that if the YouTube video is age-restricted, the process will take longer. Ensure the age restriction is off for faster processing.

Within a few seconds, you should start seeing potential highlights. Use the play button to review them. If you want to save a highlight for later, click the star icon. The yellow bar indicates the likelihood of a highlight, usually around 75% of the way through the bar.

Navigate through the highlights using the right-hand navigation. The back and forward buttons under the video help you move through the footage. After reviewing, you can easily return to the highlights you want to keep and create a clip by clicking the highlight button.

Once the process is complete, the algorithm will re-evaluate to find the peak of each highlight, potentially adjusting the timestamps slightly. The process completion is indicated when the blue bar at the top disappears. Refresh the page if needed to see the final results.

You can also use the dominance chart to see which team is dominating the game at any given time. The yellow line above indicates home team dominance, while the blue line below shows away team dominance.

This overview covers the basics of getting started with GoldDigger. There’s a lot more to explore, but this should help you begin highlighting your soccer games efficiently.
